"Old Geezers"

At different sporting events, during the playing of our National Anthem, Old Geezers hold their caps over their hearts and sing without embarrassment. They know the words and believe in them. Being able to carry a tune is not that important.

Old Geezers remember World War I, the Depression, World War II, Pearl Harbor, Guadalcanal, Normandy and Hitler. They remember the Atomic Age, the Korean War, The Cold War, the Jet Age and the Moon Landing, not to mention Vietnam.

If you happen to bump into an Old Geezer on the sidewalk, he will apologize. If you pass an Old Geezer on the street, he will nod or tip his hat to a lady. Old Geezers trust strangers and are courtly to women. Old Geezers hold the door for the next person and always, when walking, make certain the lady is on the inside for protection.

Old Geezers get embarrassed if someone curses in front of women and children and they don't like any filth on TV or in movies. Old Geezers have moral courage. They seldom brag unless it's about their grandchildren.

It's the Old Geezers who know our great country is protected, not by politicians or police, but by the young men and women in the military serving their country.

This country needs Old Geezers with their decent values. We need them now more than ever.

Thank God for Old Geezers!

  1. Hear, hear! God bless the "old geezers". Most of my good friends are "old geezers". Seems I was born a generation too late....

  8. Oh, that was great! I love 'old geezers' or gentlemen as Kymber said. Little old men are the sweetest kind of folks to have around. I hope my hubby and son grow up to be old geezers!

  9. AMEN, well said sir. We need a bunch more people to think like that.

  10. Who are you calling an "Old Geezer"?

I may have been born too late to have actual memories of the things you listed, but I studied all of them.

Other than that, you described me to a "T" - but I'm only 38.

It's really more a matter of character than of age.

Agreed. You don't have to be an old geezer to have strength of character. My apologies sir and no slight was intended towards younger people.

  12. Had to laugh at Mr. Neal's comment, as I was going to say I am an old geezer, but only 30 and female. I also teach my sons the way of the old geezer.

When we go to bike rallies, we always look for the POW flags, and the little old men to camp with. Usually I am the only female at the camp site, but these guys are great. They always look after you, tell you all kinds of wonderfully filthy stories and will buy you a round.

With your guidance, I think they'll do just fine. Sometimes we all need a little push in the right direction.
    Thanks.
