there will be a special and very informative presentation on rainwater
harvesting presented by rainwaterrevival.com.
There will be presentations by rainwater professionals and users of rainwater.
There will also be water conservation-related vendors and several displays of
different rainwater systems. There will also be plenty of experts to provide
guidance on rainwater harvesting and to answer your questions in this regard.

That's really a good idea. I've been using water barrels to collect rain water to water my garden for years. I hooked a hose up to the bottom and use the gravity to relocate the water to where I need it. Unfortunately, Texas has had some bad drought weather the past few summers, so it's been empty more than full the past two years.
Also, in a grid-down situation, you could drink the water after boiling or using a home-made water filter like the one at InternetPrepper.com http://tiny.cc/d1ermw or you could add chlorine.
